2009 Samora Branco (Lezírias, Companhia das (Samora))

Companhia das Lezírias Samora Branco, Tejo, Portugal 2009

60% Fernão Pires, 40% Arinto

JUICY FRUIT, VERY FLORAL, TANGERINE, CITRUS

From the southern end of Portugal in the newly renamed region of Tejo we have this darling summer sipper and pool side white called "Samora" from the Samora Correia area. The estate has just 120 hectares under vine and the grape vines are 20+ years old. All this for so little money- this has got to be one of the best white wine values around. Peach, honeydew melon, tangerine and citrus jump from the glass. Very juicy in the center, it's like a squirt of fruit flavor. Keep bottles chilled at all times for emergency wine drinking situations. A Wine Authorities Exclusive!

Serving Suggestion: Shrimp boil with lots of lemon, bay leaf and a mango salsa. Also with summer fruit gaspacho or fruit kabobs with savory mint sauce.
