2008 Zinfandel "Glory Days" (Van Ruiten)Van Ruiten, "Glory Days," Zinfandel, Lodi, CA 2008 87% Zinfandel, 6% P. Sirah, 5% Carignan, 2% Tannat BRAMBLY, JAMMY, RASPBERRY & BLACKBERRY Starting in the 1950s with sweat equity, Dutch imigrant John Van Ruiten Sr. planted Zinfandel in Lodi and sold his fruit for decades. Now more than 50 years later the family farms the vineyards and makes their wine. This bottling is a special throwback to the Glory Days of summer. Fun to drink, sexy and delicious. This Zin is enhanced with bits of other grapes, but notably 99 year old Carignan vines go into the mix. The tannin is easy, the fruit is large and the flavor goes on for innings. Fire up the grill! Serving Suggestion: Grilled food is a must. Either chicken, burgers or sausages, no matter, this wine can handle them all. Or try grilled mushrooms and summer squash.$9.99 each |
