While Grüner Veltliner is not typical from Burgenland, this is a standout for its dry racy style layered with exotic citrus, fresh zippy texture and lip smacking dry acidity.

Sankt Laurent, a prominently purply grape of mysterious but presumedly Austrian origins plays an important role in the world of Burgenland's reds as well as those of Slovakia and the Czech republic. Long rumored and hypothesized to be a relative of Pinot Noir, it's now known to be more uniquely Central European. This rendition from Meinklang represents not only the varietal at its absolute zenith but arguably the estate's crowning achievement as well. Deriving its name from the futuristic and spiritually integral concrete eggs in which it's aged, the Konkret is masterpiece!

Serving suggestion: Braised goose w/ plum sauce & herb-encrusted smashed sweet potatoes w/ five spice. Terrine w/ orange zest, pomegranate, & garlic.

PERSIMMON & PINEAPPLE, CIDERY SHARPNESS, CLOUDY YET CLEAN

Following in the footsteps of the concrete Nomblot Egg-aged Sankt-Laurent which has become something of an icon for Meinklang, this white is a field blend featuring Gewurztraminer and other varieties. It’s also an orange wine and has developed the classically cloudy and amber-pigmented semi-opacity that is a hallmark of the style. A gently funky rusticity is balanced by vibrant, refreshing acidity and fruit that hits a high note which is persimmony, cider-ish, and tropical. Let the adventure begin!

Serving Suggestion: Laotian papaya salad w/ crab & squid. Tangy goat’s milk cheeses w/ pickled & salty thangs.
