2020 Friulano (Visintini)
Visintini, Friulano, Colli Orientali, Friuli, Italy 2020 {biodynamic} 100% Friulano QUINCE & APPLE SKIN, WAXY ALMOND, HONEY & GINGER The Friulano grape's Bordelais origins are belied by its contemporary northeastern Italian name, but this signature specialty of Friuli (and neighboring Slovenia) has recently been finding more appreciation than ever before. Brimming with flavors that balance between the familiar and the exotic, this is an interesting alternative to more robust examples of Pinot Grigio. With apple-skin astringency, suggestive savoriness, and almond-like waxiness, it’s delightfully food-friendly! Serving Suggestion: Smoked salmon & ricotta omelet. Risotto w/ parmesan & baby asparagus. Sushi rolls w/ eel, avocado, tempura, & cream cheese. |

2019 Pinot Grigio (Visintini)
Visintini, Pinot Grigio, Colli Orientali, Friuli, Italy 2019 {organic} 100% Pinot Grigio PEARSKIN & PLUMCOT, FLORAL & MINERALLY, COPPERTONED COLORSCHEME Pinot Gris is indeed a native to France, but, despite its impressive stature in Alsace, the grape arguably reaches its zenith in the far northeastern reaches of Italy. Friuli is one of the grape’s clear capitals, and the region’s tendencies to celebrate the variety's propensity toward richer, more expressive variations serves it well. This offering from Visintini bursts from the glass with its eye-catching copper colorations and autumnal, floral perfume. Refreshing, roughhewn Korean pear-like texture (from extended skin contact) and appropriately pinkish, plumcot-like fruit interwoven with mountain stream minerality make this a real treat for the senses. Serving Suggestion: Shrimp & porcini risotto w/ olive oil & garlic. Grilled tofu salad w/ red cabbage, radish, carrot, & sesame oil / chili-garlic seasoning. |

2020 Ribolla Gialla (Visintini)
Visintini, Ribolla Gialla, Colli Orientali, Friuli, Italy 2020 {biodynamic} 100% Ribolla Gialla LEMON & FLORAL AROMAS. ELEGANT, SUBTLE, BRIGHT. In the 14th century the poet Boccaccio listed the consumption of Ribolla Gialla as one of the sins of gluttony, but if drinking this wine is wrong, we don’t want to be right! Indigenous to Italy and found mostly in northeastern Friuli, the grape is also found in Slovenia under the name Rebula. This example is a paragon of understated elegance, with delicate minerality, clean flavors, satisfying acidity, and a lingering finish. Serving Suggestion: Crab spaghettini w/ lemon gremolata & red chili flakes. Tomato cucumber salad w/ fresh dill fried capers. Prosciutto & arugula pesto pizza. |

2020 Vino Rosso "Palmira" (Visintini)
Visintini, "Palmira" Vino Rosso, Colli Orientali, Friuli, Italy 2020 {biodynamic} 100% Merlot SAVORY RED FRUIT, BRAMBLY HERBS & CHOCOLATE Italy’s northeast is best known for aromatic, structured whites that are arguably some of the very best emerging from the boot-shaped nation, but the vineyards of Friuli are also a melting pot populated by both indigenous varieties and various French expats. Merlot is a person of interest here, finding freshness and drinkability combined with its signature herbaceous and earthy, chocolatey intrigue. This garnet-colored gem is a charismatic example! Serving Suggestion: Hearty pork sausage w/ fermented turnips, spinach, & polenta. Black bean burger w/ beet & carrot slaw. |
